Short blog covering the shortlisted retailers for the CSR award at the Draper's Awards.

In the run up to this year's Draper's Awards on 17th November, we are investing the accomplishments of all four retailers who have been shortlisted for the Corporate Social Responsibility Award. This week, we're looking at how F&F are attempting challenge ethical issues within the fashion industry.

F&F, Tesco’s own clothing brand are aiming to reduce both their social and environmental impact. They are determined to confront challenges surrounding ethics throughout the fashion industry. In order to achieve this goal, F&F have a number of core beliefs. These include continuously monitoring and reducing their environmental impact and building partnerships with suppliers.

F&F’s You Buy One, We Donate One range of children’s school uniforms sees one school uniform donated to a child in Sir Lanka, Bangladesh or Kenya for every one bought in store. This has resulted in a massive 350,000 uniforms being donated since 2009. Despite this phenomenal feat, this is not the end to F&F’s educational endeavours as they have also created F&F Funding Futures, who work to increase lives and potential through education. This extends to many other set-ups aimed at improving lives across the world.

Global sourcing is essential for an international retailer. F&F are part of the Better Cotton Fast Track Programme, who aim to have 30% of the world’s global cotton market producing cotton in a more sustainable way. To contribute to this, F&F are working towards 100% of their cotton being produced in a way that will have minimal environmental impact and achieve the best possible deal for those who are producing it. They are also involved in reducing deforestation and checking that all fur products only contain fake fur.
