October 18th marks Anti-Slavery Day; originally created to raise awareness of human trafficking and modern slavery. Despite slavery being abolished in Britain in 1833, slavery still exists around the globe and is increasingly on our doorstep, remaining hidden.

This crime crosses borders and affects victims and countries internationally. In 2017, the coalition known as Alliance 8.7 jointly estimated there were some 40 million people enslaved worldwide.
