Capture and map your multi-tier supplier network through Supplier Manager

Supply chain transparency software (SaaS) for sustainable fashion

Discover complete multi-tier
supply chain transparency

Over the years, supply chains in the fashion industry have evolved to keep up with the demands of businesses and consumers. They've become large, globally dispersed and multi-tiered. It has also become more challenging to map and manage these dispersed supply chains using manual practices (such as spreadsheets).

Increasing concerns around ethical legislation, like the UK's Modern Slavery Act 2015, and sustainable sourcing, make it even more important for businesses to ensure they can validate and confirm who all their suppliers are, and this is where Segura's Supplier Manager can help.

multi-tier supply chain transparency

Why do I need supply chain transparency?

Retail is a fiercely competitive and fast-paced industry, so in order to remain competitive, retailers and brands need a way of identifying supplier spread for several reasons. If suppliers are unknown, you lack control and could suffer from unauthorised subcontracting with no way of knowing it. You could also fall short of legislative compliance or be unable to effectively mitigate risks within your supply chain. All of which could be costly and could result in damage to your brand image and reputation. With Segura, you can ensure that doesn’t happen.

fashion and retail competitive advantage

One of the reasons Rana Plaza was such a watershed moment is because it became clear that fashion brands didn’t know where their products were being made. Their supply chains had gotten so large and out of their own control, they didn’t know. Now there is a genuine move toward transparency, so there are more brands now who share a public list of suppliers or make that information available on their website to their customers.

How does Supplier Manager work with multi-tier supply chains?

Segura's supply chain transparency software (SaaS) automatically notifies and communicates with your suppliers, as well as providing supplier training and onboarding.

Our approach allows Segura to obtain and confirm the details that you require from the suppliers themselves. Once we have your known suppliers onboard and using the system, Segura will request that those suppliers invite their own suppliers to register and so on. By following this process, Segura is able to gather and confirm details for your multi-tier supply chain and Segura will continue this process however far down the chain you would like to reach.

You can view the collected data in Segura's organised libraries and filter by suppliers, agents or factories. This makes suppliers much easier to manage and to identify supplier spread. You can also visualise all of your locations pinpointed onto Segura's very own multi-tiered supply chain map.

Capturing and holding data in a centralised database ensures that you are always up to date, enabling you to drive compliance across your entire supply chain and, if someone makes a change, or something happens, Segura's notification tools will make sure that you know about it, right away.

Through mitigating supply chain risks, preventing supply chain disruptions and managing legislative compliance, you are protecting your business' image and reputation and with the rise in today's conscious consumer, this is incredibly important. Research by Julia Hartmann and Sabine Benoit suggests that consumers do not differentiate between members of the supply chain when it comes to poor supplier behaviours. Instead, they hold the focal firm responsible for everything that occurs in the supply chain and this could result in bad word-of-mouth or even boycotting in some cases.

The confirmed location of your suppliers gives you the power to mitigate supply chain disruptions and build effective contingency plans should a natural disaster or other supply chain failure occur. By doing this, you can ensure minimal disruption to your operations and keep your speed-to-market competitive.

We use the saying "if a factory is seen to be ethical on Monday, will it still be so on Friday?" quite often because it's true.  With this module you have the ability to plan factory visits and inspections in the most time-efficient and cost-effective way, enabling you to sufficiently monitor and manage your factories' legislative compliance.

Knowing who is supplying you and where from, facilitates better communication through the supply chain and is the foundation of a great supplier relationship. Not only does our module improve communication through notifications and translation tools, but it provides physical confirmation that your suppliers are in fact the ones supplying you. In today's world, trusting your suppliers alone isn't enough if an investigation into your business takes place.

Underpinning each module is the Segura reporting & analytics tool, which gives you a single version of the truth. This powerful functionality allows you to review and understand every element of your entire global supplier and sourcing network whilst identify opportunities for improvement.
