Can you imagine what Segura's Technology & Operations Director Ian Hepworth and myself have in common with Will.i.am, Brad Pitt and Cameron Diaz?

Well, last month saw us join these celebrities as fans of the Tesla Model S, named by the American Automobile Association (AAA) as the best green car in the world today. We were lucky enough to be invited for a test drive and our experiences behind the wheel made us think of Segura’s innovations in the cloud.

“Zero emissions, zero compromises”

Made in California, the Tesla Model S is one of the most technically advanced cars on the globe. Designed by a group of former PayPal, Google, Bentley, Aston Martin and NASA engineers, the Model S is fully electric with zero CO2 emissions and is therefore completely silent on the road. It can also exceed 120 mph, climb from 0-60mph in under six seconds, and achieve 200-300 miles on a full battery charge – and free superchargers can achieve a 50% battery recharge in only 20 minutes!

The saloon car has room for up to seven people and offers generous luggage space, keyless entry, a rear camera, front and rear LED lights, automatic climate control, cruise control and rain sensing wipers. A huge 17-inch screen in the dashboard also provides access to the internet, sat nav, car controls, and your phone and music. We even managed to log into Segura’s production tracking platform!

Leading the way in technology

Tesla recently opened up its patents to allow anyone to freely use its technology, in hopes of fostering further innovation in the electric vehicle market. Tesla chief executive Elon Musk said that it is virtually impossible for Tesla alone to "build electric cars fast enough to address the carbon crisis".

He explained: “If we clear a path to the creation of compelling electric vehicles, but then lay intellectual property landmines behind us to inhibit others, we are acting in a manner contrary to that goal."

Electric cars deploy state-of-the-art technology to achieve incredible results on the road, just as Segura’s production tracking systems help to improve supply chain processes within the garment industry. We’re big believers in the power of innovative technology to change the way the world works, and Tesla’s open attitude to market development is inspiring.

Segura Systems

Simply put, Segura makes retailers' supply chains ethical, sustainable and more profitable. We’re eager to encourage brands within the garment industry to implement new technologies in order to aid supply chain management. Our production tracking systems help industry players to eradicate unauthorised subcontracting, uncompetitive relationships and missing rebates from the garment supply chain.

That’s why we’re offering a free three-month trial of our software to any garment retail or manufacturing company, which will allow brands to test out our full production tracking system across a limited number of suppliers. This will enable them to experience the benefits for themselves.
